ITALIAN WINE APPRECIATION COURSE
Italy in a glass. Wine made simple. Wine made interesting.
“If you’re looking for a wine appreciation course in Sydney, this is designed to make things simpler and more approachable. Wine appreciation, for me, has never been about knowing everything. It’s about feeling comfortable when you choose a wine. I designed this course around real situations I’ve seen countless times — sitting in a restaurant, opening a wine list, standing in a bottle shop and not quite knowing where to start.”
Italy is home to more grape varieties than almost any other wine country in the world — from famous names like Barolo, Chianti and Prosecco to hundreds of fascinating indigenous grapes you’ve probably never heard of.
But with so many regions, grapes and styles, Italian wine can sometimes feel a little overwhelming.
Our Italian Wine Appreciation Course is a relaxed and engaging introduction to the extraordinary world of Italian wine — designed for curious beginners and wine lovers who want to understand Italy beyond simply drinking it.
Over three hours, we’ll take you on a journey through Italy, exploring its most important wine regions, grape varieties, traditions and styles. You’ll learn how to taste wine, understand an Italian wine label, recognise the influence of climate and terroir, and — most importantly — discover what you actually like.
From the Alps of the north to the volcanic landscapes of Sicily, we’ll explore how dramatically different Italian wines can be, even when made from grapes you’ve never encountered before.
