WHAT WE DO bIODYNAMIC WINES - ORGANIC WINES

La Busattina has been practising organic farming since 1990, recovering a farm that had been abandoned for many years. In 1998 we switched to the biodynamic farming method and obtained the Demeter label.

We do not use fertilisers in the vineyard but only green manure and biodynamic preparations. To protect the vines from fungal diseases, we only use pure sulphur and copper in small quantities.

During the vinification process, the qualities of the grapes and soil are enhanced by practices that exclude the use of selected yeasts, without temperature control or refrigeration, with a long maceration of the grapes in an old stone cellar.

The total number of bottles of wine produced is currently around 9,000, which will grow to around 20-30,000 over the next three years.

ABOUT LA BUSATTINA WINERY

La Busattina, in the extreme south of Tuscany, located between Mount Amiata and the sea, at 500 m above sea level, enjoys the beneficial climatic influences of both the sea and the mountains.

La Busattina farm covers 25 hectares, 10 of which are woodland, 4.5 are vineyards, 1 is an olive grove and 9 are pastures and arable land.

The vineyards enjoy south-eastern exposure, on sandy soils with a day/night temperature range, due to the altitude, that allows for perfumed and mineral wines.
