Oro di Rufolo – ¨Michele’s Extra Virgin Olive Oils were within the firsts I have professionally tasted while searching for the bests. We did the tasting together through a video call. I remember savoring the oils and, like when I taste a superb wine, unintentionally started smiling. So I knew we have found excellence. The Coratina he makes goes above and beyond. It is really hard work with variety obtaining an elegant product without compromising the full organoleptic spectrum of this cultivar. And Michele, with a cutting edge modern mill, does just that¨.

The Story

Ortoplant  is a dynamic nursery, that believes in the development of local resources, it lives the territory and, feeling strong of its olive groves inherited from their fathers, it decided to invest in the extra virgin olive oil sector by creating the “Oro di Rufolo” brand.

Initially the company had only 5.5 hectares of land, with a little more over 600 secular olive trees, but today it can count on an area of 12 hectares of land, with more than 2,000 olive trees.

The lands acquired, have been improved with specialized interventions, with the extirpation of obsolete orchards and with the replacement of certified young olive trees. The positive story of the three entrepreneurs continues, since 2012, when they took their first steps into the extra virgin olive oil world, they have gained increasing support, collecting growing consensus and appreciation for oils produced by them. To prove it, is the constant presence in the most famous guides magazines, dedicated to olive oils of excellence, and numerous awards in national and international competitions.

Il Frantoio ( Olive Oil Mill)

In our oil mill, equipped with cutting-edge machines, nothing is left to chance: olives, in few hours from the harvest, got separate from branches and leaves, then carefully washed and dried. During the grind or stone phases and following braking, temperatures control, low presence of air and short processing times, avoid the unwelcome oxidation and warming of the olive paste. A two-phase decanter, extracts the precious olive juice, keeping his best taste features. All our oils are filtered and stored in stainless steel containers under nitrogen atmosphere, in air-conditioned rooms.
